Renz Dela Cruz

Renz Dela Cruz (b. 1996) is a talented visual artist and painter with a diverse background that blends technical expertise with artistic passion. He completed his primary and secondary education at St. Martin de Porres Catholic School of Paombong and Paombong High School before earning a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Bulacan State University in 2017. After passing the Licensure Examinations for Mechanical Engineers in 2018, Renz worked briefly as a Service Advisor at Carworld, Inc., before fully dedicating himself to his artistic journey.

Renz’s artistic style is deeply influenced by the miniaturismo movement and the works of masters such as Justiniano Asunción and Damian Domingo. His artwork is characterized by its simplicity and attention to historical and religious themes, often portraying Roman Catholic motifs, historical figures, and events with great reverence and detail. He primarily works with oil paints but also explores watercolor and drawing pen illustrations to bring his visions to life.

Some of Renz’s most notable accomplishments include having his works displayed in prominent Roman Catholic churches and chapels in the Philippines, such as the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Church and the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Piat. His paintings also adorn the estandartes of revered Marian images across the country. Recently, he collaborated as an illustrator for a book.

Currently, Renz is focused on completing commissioned works and continues to refine his craft. Looking ahead, he aims to create more artworks that inspire both himself and those who experience them.

For budding artists, Renz offers this valuable advice: “Practice never makes perfect, but it will definitely make you better.”
