Mariel Garcia

Mariel Garcia (b. 1994) is a visual artist and illustrator with a unique talent for merging science and art. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, majoring in Multimedia Arts, from Mapúa Malayan Colleges, where she began developing her signature style.

Mariel’s work is characterized by a warm palette and a fondness for vintage aesthetics, reminiscent of the intricate designs found in old encyclopedias. Her favorite subjects include anatomical forms, flowers, and animals, which she uses to convey their deeper spiritual meanings. Watercolors and oils are her preferred mediums, allowing her to create illustrations that are rich in detail and emotion.

Her artistic journey has led to collaborations with renowned brands like Levi’s, Huawei, and Beep Card Philippines. In 2019, her illustrated book Kain Na! An Illustrated Guide to Philippine Food was published, earning a nomination at the 2020 Gourmand Awards for Best in Illustration and Food Heritage.

Currently, Mariel is working on an ongoing series on Philippine endemic birds, which began in 2021 and continues to come alive with each stroke.
